Deerfield Beach, Broward County
Demolition in Deerfield Beach
Deerfield Beach is the last Broward city before the Hillsboro Canal and Palm Beach County, and its beachfront sits on the barrier island east of the Intracoastal. A beachfront lot there can fall seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line, which puts a state permit review beside the city's.
The Coastal Construction Control Line is set by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Seaward of it, work that alters, excavates or constructs generally needs a DEP permit unless an exemption applies, and that review is separate from the city building permit. Whether a particular demolition needs one is DEP's decision, so we ask before we set a start date.
Deerfield Beach contracts its Florida Building Code work, including permit intake, plan review, inspections and close-out, to CAP Government. Applications, inspection requests and fees go through the city's online portal, and Broward County items such as the asbestos certificate go through ePermits OneStop.
West of the Intracoastal, the city's condominium communities and single-family streets follow the ordinary order: survey, disconnects, permit, demolition and final inspection.

Questions
Demolition in Deerfield Beach
Does a beachfront demolition in Deerfield Beach need a state permit?
It can. If the work is seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line, Florida DEP generally requires a permit for activity that alters, excavates or constructs there, unless an exemption applies. DEP's CCCL program makes that call, and we confirm with them before committing to a schedule.
What does a demolition cost?
Every job is quoted from a site visit, or from photos and drawings when that is enough to see the scope. The number depends on what the building is made of, its size and height, what the asbestos survey finds, which utilities must be disconnected, access for equipment, how close the neighbors are, what stays and what goes, and where the debris is hauled. We do not publish prices, because two jobs that look alike rarely are.
What happens with asbestos before demolition?
The building is surveyed first by an independent licensed consultant, because federal rules require a thorough asbestos inspection before a regulated demolition and the county's notice depends on it. If the survey finds asbestos that the work will disturb, a licensed abatement firm removes it. Romco coordinates both; we are not an abatement contractor.
How long does a demolition take?
We do not quote durations before the facts are in. The schedule depends on permit review in your city, how quickly the utility disconnect letters arrive, what the asbestos survey finds and any notice period that follows, association approvals, and the size and construction of the building. Once those are known, we give you a sequence with the dependencies named.
