Mobile home demolition · Broward County
Mobile home demolition in Broward County
A mobile home looks light, but it hides a steel frame, axles, tie-downs anchored into the ground, and additions bolted on over the years. In a park, the community’s rules can matter as much as the demolition.

Florida requires manufactured homes to be anchored against wind, so most Broward units sit on piers with straps and ground anchors. Those anchors stay in the ground unless someone pulls them, and a lot left with anchors and pier blocks is not ready for the next home. We take them out along with the frame.
Many older units also carry carports, screen rooms and sheds added after the fact, some with old roof coatings or siding that need an asbestos survey before they come down. Parks set working hours, truck routes and where debris can sit. The park manager often has to approve the work before it begins.
There is paperwork outside the building department as well. A titled mobile home that is destroyed generally has to be reported to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and that filing is yours as the owner. Send the park name or the address, with photos of the unit and its additions, and we will price the whole lot.
Order of work
- Get the park’s approval and its contractor rules, if the unit is in a park.
- Survey the unit and its additions for asbestos.
- Arrange utility disconnects and the city or county permit.
- Remove the additions, then the home, then the frame and axles.
- Pull tie-downs, anchors, piers and pads.
- Haul the debris, sending the steel to a recycler.
- Leave the lot clean and graded for the next unit.
Where it goes wrong
What usually goes wrong, and how we control it
Anchors left in the ground
Straps are easy to cut and leave. We pull the ground anchors, pier blocks and pads, so the lot is clear for a replacement home or a sale.
Additions nobody tested
Screen rooms, carports and add-on roofs from decades ago can include materials that need testing. An independent licensed consultant surveys before work starts, and anything regulated goes to a licensed abatement firm.
Tight park lots
Neighbors sit a few feet away. Truck access is planned with the park manager, adjacent units are protected, and the work stays inside the park’s hours.
Connections under the unit
Power, water, sewer and sometimes gas connect at a pedestal or under the floor. The utility or the park’s licensed trades disconnect them before demolition, and lines are capped where the park specifies.
The limits
Utility disconnects and abatement are licensed work we coordinate; the title filing is yours. Park rules and permit requirements differ, so confirm them with the park and the building department.
Questions
About mobile home demolition
Can the mobile home be hauled away instead of demolished?
Sometimes, if it is sound enough to move and someone wants it. Moving a home is licensed work for a mobile home installer or transporter. When the unit is not worth moving, demolition on site is usually the practical answer.
Do I need a permit to demolish a mobile home in Broward?
In most cases, yes, from the city or, on unincorporated land, from the county. Confirm with that building department; we prepare the application.
What happens to the title?
A titled home that is destroyed generally has to be reported to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Confirm the steps with that agency. It is your filing, not ours.
What does a demolition cost?
Every job is quoted from a site visit, or from photos and drawings when that is enough to see the scope. The number depends on what the building is made of, its size and height, what the asbestos survey finds, which utilities must be disconnected, access for equipment, how close the neighbors are, what stays and what goes, and where the debris is hauled. We do not publish prices, because two jobs that look alike rarely are.
What size of job will you take on?
Any size. We quote one interior wall, a shed, a pool or a slab, and we quote a full building, including selective and structural demolition. Tell us what is there and what has to remain, and we will price the scope as described.
Is Romco Builders licensed?
Yes. Romco Builders is a licensed Florida general contractor, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. Work that needs its own license, such as asbestos abatement, electrical disconnects or tree removal, is done by firms that hold that license, and we coordinate them under one schedule.
How a job runs

We look at the structure, the utilities, access for equipment and trucks, and what sits next door.
Written scope and quote
The quote names what is removed, what is protected, what is hauled away, and what depends on survey results.
Surveys, permit and disconnects
Asbestos survey where required, utility disconnects, and the demolition permit from your city's building department.
Demolition and haul-off
